CLIMBING THE MISTI VOLCANO – 2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT

Type: Group mountain tour (minimum 4 people)
Difficulty: Moderate
Duration: 2 days / 1 night

PROGRAM

DAY ONE: AREQUIPA – EL MISTI BASE CAMP

8:00 a.m. – Passenger pickup

I pick up passengers at their hotels, provided they are located within the historic district of the city.

We will board a 4x4 vehicle and, once equipped with all the necessary gear for the journey, we will set off toward the district of Chiguata and then on to the Pampas del Misti (3,450 m a.s.l.), a trip that takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

From here, we will begin our hike to the base camp of Misti Volcano, making a gradual ascent of approximately 5 to 6 hours until we reach an elevation of 4,650 meters above sea level.

Upon arrival at the campsite, tents will be set up so you can spend the night and enjoy the natural high-mountain surroundings.

Dinner: 5:00 p.m.

Important: Each passenger must bring their own lunch and snacks for the hike.

DAY TWO: ASCENT TO THE SUMMIT OF EL MISTI – RETURN TO AREQUIPA

Very early in the morning, after a light breakfast of coca tea and/or coffee, we will begin the ascent to the summit of Mount Misti.

The hike takes approximately 5 to 6 hours and reaches an elevation of 5,825 meters above sea level.

Once we reach the summit, we’ll visit the volcano’s crater, where you may be able to see fumarolic activity (optional). From this vantage point, you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city of Arequipa, the surrounding volcanoes, and the Andes Mountains.

We will then begin our descent back to camp to collect all our camping gear and continue on to the spot where our transportation is waiting for us.

Finally, we will begin our return to the city of Arequipa, bringing this unforgettable adventure to a close.
