Full Tour of the Colca Canyon

We will begin picking up passengers from their respective hotels between 2:45 a.m. and 3:10 a.m. We will then depart for the Colca Valley by tour bus.

Our first stop will be at the Mirador de los Volcanes, where we’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Sabancaya, Ampato, and Hualca Hualca volcanoes. Continuing on our tour, we’ll arrive in Chivay, the capital of the Caylloma province, where we’ll enjoy a continental breakfast.

Next, we’ll head to the town of Maca, where we’ll visit the El Molino Lookout. There, you’ll have the chance to try on traditional Colca costumes, join our guide in a fun demonstration of the Wititi dance, and take photos wearing the colorful outfits against the backdrop of the unique animal-shaped rock formations.

Continuing our tour of Maca, we’ll visit its beautiful colonial church, and you’ll have free time to buy local handicrafts, sample the traditional Colca Sour, and take photos with eagles and alpacas.

Next, we will visit the town of Pinchollo and the Wayrapunko Lookout, where we can admire the impressive pre-Inca terraces and the majestic Andes Mountains.

Our next destination will be the famous Cruz del Cóndor, the most iconic spot in the Colca Canyon. Here we will watch the spectacular flight of the Andean condor, considered one of the largest flying birds in the world, with a wingspan that can exceed 3 meters. We will spend about an hour here to enjoy the scenery and take photos.

On the way back, we will stop at the natural lookouts of Choquetico and Antahuilque, and visit the town of Yanque, where those who wish to do so can enjoy the Chacapi Hot Springs (optional admission). Its thermal-medicinal waters, with a temperature of approximately 36°C, are renowned for their relaxing properties and benefits in alleviating conditions such as arthritis, rheumatism, and skin ailments.

Later, we will return to Chivay, where we will have time to have lunch at a local restaurant (lunch not included). We will then begin our return to the city of Arequipa, stopping at Patapampa—known as the “Viewpoint of the Andes”—located at 4,910 meters above sea level, from where you can see various volcanoes and spectacular high-Andean landscapes.

We will continue our journey through the Toccra Wetlands, a natural habitat for various Andean and migratory birds, as well as the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where we will see the three species of South American camelids: vicuñas, alpacas, and llamas.

Finally, we will arrive in the city of Arequipa at approximately 6:00 p.m., bringing this unforgettable experience through the majestic Colca Canyon to a close.
