DAY 1: AREQUIPA – CABANACONDE – SAN JUAN DE CHUCCHO
3:00 a.m. – Hotel pickup
We will pick you up from your accommodation as long as it is located in the city center. Otherwise, the meeting point will be Arequipa’s Plaza de Armas.
Next, we’ll head to Chivay for breakfast and a visit to the Cruz del Cóndor, where you can explore the area and watch the condors in flight.
Saint Michael
We’ll continue on to San Miguel to start the hike. We’ll begin our descent through the canyon, where you’ll be able to observe the area’s flora and fauna and enjoy breathtaking natural scenery.
After about a 3-hour hike, we’ll cross the bridge to reach the village of San Juan de Chuccho, where we’ll have lunch and learn more about the communities and families living in the Colca Canyon.
DAY 2: SANGALLE OASIS
We'll have breakfast and rest before starting our second day of hiking.
We will take a hike lasting about 3 hours, passing through the villages of Cosñirhua and Malata, until we reach the beautiful Sangalle Oasis.
Here you'll find heated pools, which you can use if you like, or you can simply relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.
DAY 3: CABANACONDE – CHIVAY – AREQUIPA
We will set out very early in the morning to begin the 3- to 4-hour hike up to the highest point of the canyon.
During the tour, you'll be able to enjoy the spectacular sunrise over the Colca Canyon.
Once you reach the summit, you’ll have time to rest before continuing on to Cabanaconde, where we’ll have breakfast and wrap up the hike.
Next, we’ll head to the Antahuilque Lookout, where you can see the traditional terraced fields and the area’s hot springs.
Lunch in Chivay
After lunch in Chivay, we will return to the city of Arequipa, making one final stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes viewpoint, located at 4,190 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the region’s volcanoes.
